Stanchions & Barriers

It is essential that all museum and gallery equipment should blend with the environment, performing its function without distracting from the exhibits on display.

The Absolute barrier system is used to discreetly indicate to museum and gallery visitors that they should not touch the exhibits. Its essential element is the stretch cord, trapped in the slotted top of each post, drawing a neat line in the air (avoiding that dreadful droopy rope). It gently reminds the public of its presence without clashing with the display or the decor. The cord runs straight on through the slots, exits at 90¼ at corners and terminates with a simple hidden knot.

All of the barriers are available in a grey polyester coating or stainless steel.

Information systems

A visitor's experience of an exhibition is usually enhanced by some background knowledge of the artwork or artifact on show. The challenge is to provide this information in close proximity to the piece in a manner that is easily interpreted but without distracting from the main artwork.

This section contains a variety of methods that we have developed to address these issues at every stage of a visitor's journey, including freestanding signage to offer information and directions, text to sit alongside exhibits in showcases, or artworks on the wall.

Hanging systems

Our hanging systems are unique to us and have been designed to deal with all sizes and weights of artwork and a wide variety of installation needs. These are museum grade systems, created for their strength, security, and ease of use by the best museums and galleries in the world and the smallest private galleries.

These products are flexible, discreet, integrated (they will work with each other), come with a broad range of accessories and will carry heavier loads than other hanging systems. The majority also incorporate security measures to deter opportunist theft and the Ryman and Link Hanger have both been approved by the British National Security Advisor for the purposes of government indemnity.

Accessories

The products in this section have been developed in conjunction with major galleries and private collections to address a range of more specific issues. They are designed to work alongside the core range of Absolute products.
